Hi all, I caught this spider in my house, I live about 20km outside of Rustenburg, NW. It looks like Augacephalus breyeri (spelling?)to me, but I'm more of snake person so I wouldn't be surprised if I'm wrong. I have no idea how you measure spiders, but the body is just over 2 cm long. The spider wi...

Re: Cobra bites man’s face

And that's about a 40 minute drive from Pilanesburg to Ferncrest plus the time from the bite to the time they exit the park gate. I shudder at the thought of Necrosis in the face. I'd also ensist on a huge amount of AV as soon as possible.

Re: Call out 2013-02-27

Caught a nice banded one last night, estimate it is +- 1.5m. I catch quite a few of them but have never seen one that was this psycho! He would actually chase me for about 2-3 meters before he would try to get away again, instead of the mock charge I normally get with the snouties. Once on the hook,...

Re: Me and my Reptiles

@ReptileWrangler - He did not claim that you sold him the snake, he said he got it from a guy that claims to be one of your friends (someone probably lied to the kid), read the posts properly before you decide to bashing on a kid and insulting him! This could probably have been more maturely resolve...

Re: Reptilecity... been hacked?

Seems as if it is only the Home Page that has been hacked. If you open one of the other links on Google (such as "Contact us") it opens the web site, and you can navigate further from there.

Re: Pofadder-dalk-meer-pof-as-byt

I'd pay money to see him put his foot in that boot and do that with a wild Puffie.

Kind of irresponsible to put this in a newspaper for "joe public" to read. :smt017

Rescues in winter

What do you do with the snakes you rescue in winter?
Do you release them immediately or wait for summer/a warmer day?

Re: Need help on choosing my first cobra!!!

I'm with Jamster, the guy has already decided that he wants a cobra . . . why not help the guy make an informed decision, but give advice and information with strong word of caution?

Re: The culling debate. What is your opinion?

In some cases the culling of animals is definitely nessacary, and if used correctly it can generate a lot of money. We have to face the fact that we have all ready interfered with nature and we have to manage that what is left accordingly. But that does not have to be a bad thing either, hunters can...

Re: Help applying for EA Gaboon permit

What will Natcon do if they confiscate animals like these? It would be a shame if they euthanized them.
