Re: Maternal Incubation...

She won't be able to incubate like that, the tub is in her way. She needs to be able to wrap the eggs completely or else they are just going to die. I would say remove that tub and put the 2 separate eggs in an incubator. If she does not wrap all the eggs completely, remove them and put all in the i...

Re: Heating

Just make sure those holes stay closed, I have seen it many times where a snake gets bigger and then can't fit through the holes any more and then gets stuck half way through, most of the time it does not work out too well for the snake.

Re: First Snake

Westley is right, there are MANY different options out there. And yes, baby snakes of any species can bite, Corns and Balls included. I always say for a first snake go for a cage where you can view the snake from the outside and enjoy it more. For you reference, if you can wait a while: http://www.s...

Re: First Snake

Ball Pythons and Corn Snakes are great beginner snakes but they are very different. Ball Pythons can be a bit more difficult to keep as they sometimes go on a feeding strike and for a new keeper this can be a bit stressful. Corn Snakes are very easy. Both come is various color morphs so many to choo...

Re: Newb

Welcome Since you are from Pretoria, there is a THA meeting this Friday at 19:30 for 20:00 at the PTA Zoo at the education hall. There will be a talk and presentation on South African frogs but it is a nice place to meet people and get to know breeders. You can also chat to people on what would be b...

Re: Permits

Then it would be better to release them in a field rather, away from people. They should do just fine, just make sure you release them within 20km from where they were found. There are quite a few people who breed BHS and you should be able to get a permit easilly for a captive bred one. Have a look...

Re: Permits

Hi Kobus

Welcome.

You will unfortunately never be able to get a permit for a wild caught snake, no matter the reason for wanting to keep them.

Re: Diamond Pythons

On the 12th of October 2016 I found this in my female's cage. Diamond Pythons are notoriously difficult to breed and if you do get eggs, they are even more difficult to hatch, so I placed the eggs in my incubator and hoped they did well. There were 15 good eggs: http://www.sareptiles.co.za/gallery/a...
