Re: Snake won't eat

The one side is still heated with a heater pad which I keep underneath the artificial grass to prevent it from burning him.

Snake won't eat

My Red Tail Boa, a 1.8m male, refuses lately to eat and I have no idea why since he was eating very well before. He would take at least 2 big rats per week. I keep it in a cage in my office at work and I can watch him daily. It is extremely docile and has never given me the impression that I can be ...

Re: Disinfectant spray

"That smell that smells like an vet :) that's F10.
You can buy in smaller bottles like 50ml on request. It mixes 1ml to an liter."

Thanx guys, I got it from our vet @ R0.64 per ml and as per their suggestion it_bit_me is spot on, 1ml per 1liter water.

I appreciate the help.

Re: ID the snake please

I agree, a small snouty. If you don't know what it is you shouldn't handle it. Stay away from the sharp end. Thanx Blake, but I never handle venomous snakes. After almost been bitten by a green mamba in a collection I had, the closest I get to it is the instruments I use to catch it. Since that day...

Re: ID the snake please

I fail to see how you can confuse a snouted cobra with a boomslang, did the little guy not throw a hood? Boomslangs have a very different shape head to that, as well as very different scale patterns. Your friend is lucky to be alive, as welding gloves offer little protection against snake bites. Wh...

ID the snake please

A friend of mine caught this snake in his house. He used welding gloves and the snake bit the gloves and would not let go. I suspect that it could be a boomslang but the dark band on his neck worries me slightly. The snake is a juvenile about 12 inches long. Pardon the bad quality of the photos. Pho...

Re: Please ID the snake

Thank you guys for the information. I was also sad to see the snake dead but when I got to it, it was already chopped almost in half. It was still writhing and wriggling and, since it was only connected to the head by a small piece of skin and 1 or 2 muscles, I decided to kill it to put it out of it...

Re: Please ID the snake

More pics. Could this possibly be an olive whipsnake?? To make sure it was dead and not suffering, I shot it 3 times through the head with a pellet pistol. A section of its body touched the head and is the yellow drop on the body its venom??

Please ID the snake

I stay in the Limpopo Province in the Waterberg district. All bushveld around our town. One of my neighbours called me to catch a snake but unfortunately it went underneath a wendy house. Today they killed it. Can anyone help us ID the snake. It's colour is beige brownish with a whitish belly. It wa...
