Re: Boa Hasn't defecated :/

Hi there, Run your fingers along the belly towards the tail, feeling for any solid hard masses. If you feel none then you should be ok. Keep soaking the boa, I use water of 34-35 Deg C for 20mins and this almost always does the trick. Also during this time of year the digestive processes slow down d...

Re: Alien Invasive list changes.

Today I got a call from the permit office saying that they are willing to issue a possession permit for my two captive bred Jungle Carpets but not breeding permits. However they can only issue breeding permits once they have conducted their own Risk assessment which could take a few years. I think p...

Re: National Alien invasive listing

I emailed the address listed on the form and they told me R100 "Does "Country of Origin" mean to which country does is the species native (Australia) or the country in which the specimen was born (South Africa)?" It's a good question, I think I interpreted it as the species nativ...

Re: National Alien invasive listing

I can confirm it was R100 per species, doesn't matter how many snakes you have of the same...still R100. I asked for possession, breeding and trading. I was required to complete a risk assessment, which I filled out in detail. They told me this can be completed by myself, no expert required due to th...

Normal Female BP to a good home

Hi, I have a normal female Ball Python, she is around 2+ years old, I've had her since she was about 80g....she is now around 670g and in good health and sheds well. I am looking to give her away free to a good home. This is not for someone who wants their first pet snake but rather an experienced p...

Re: National Alien invasive listing

I applied for my Carpets permits back in August 2014 already, paid my money, filled in the mountain of paperwork, phoned them and confirmed they had everything they needed. I still have not received any permits, I queried the other day and they said this still busy with no expected delivery date. I ...

Re: new legislation on invasive species

My guess would be that the CPB4 would only be for local SA snakes not exotics. Who has managed to successfully obtain a permit for Carpet Pythons so far on the Invasive Species Permit? Any tips you could offer?
