Re: Bitis armata

They are priceless in the wild Louis. I have recaptured four females over 50 times now ' getting good data on reproductice cycles. Sadly had 8 roadkills last year, two were known to me. Do not try and collect from my site or my baboon buddy will kill you; and if he doesn't then my Ostrich buddy will...

The recent photo in FB of a little girl with a rifle standing over a magnificient male lion will always win hearts and minds. You also have to think of the ter...

Re: Teen bitten by worlds most venomous snake

I am sure the 'hundred pace snake' was also allotted to the sharp-nosed viper (Deinakgistrodon acutus).

Re: Cape Coloured (idiot) vs Cape Cobra

Perhaps it was the CRI course that he attended. But I cannot be held responsible for how people behave afterwards; I am their teacher not their keeper.

Re: More fun with the D800

With the D800 you need to use (no Sigmas etc etc) Nikons best lenses anything else is a waste of time. This camera will show up all of your mistakes, but it is a great camera.

Re: Bitis caudalis many horned and some others

B.Caudalis is in a clade with B.peringueyi and B.schneideri. So hybrids are most unlikely.

What is worth keeping an eye on is where B.cornuta and B.rubida are syntopic. Have found a few cornuta with reduced horns??

Re: Solutions!

Beautiful snake, well done for your tactics and patience. Also good to see a snoutie without a rubbed snout!

Re: Tales of scales

I am sure wou will get stories and I guess they will need a lot of editing i.e. to maintain a flow as it were. You would also need an introductory chapter, fairly brief, as to why we rescue snakes and what we do with them. You could explain the permit system, where it applies, and maybe a list/summa...

Re: Tales of scales

Sounds good - you will hopefully get a good cross section of species and also some colourful characters. Certianly have some interesting ones from the Klein Karoo. Do you have a publisher? You don't mention photos - but I guess cartoons would work well. If your sister can work from a photo for examp...
