Local Reptile Shipping

Hi Last year I've successfully hatched my 1st ever ball pythons. I've put the little ones up for sale but have some concerns on managing long distance shipping should I get interested parties from far of towns/other provinces. Are there companies in SA that specialize in shipping live animals around...

Hatching waiting frustrations

Have 5 eggs in the incubator for 58 days now cooking at 31.7C (they seemingly recommended 89F). Very conflicting information out there though with indications at this temperature being ranges some of 52-54 days and others 57-60 days. Not sure what to believe anymore but the wait is tying my nerves i...

Re: python kills owner

Agreed. These are some powerful and primal animals that never gets 'domesticated' to the same sense or degree as dogs and cats. They won't hesitate to strike, constrict or do what they do at the slightest trigger to defend or eat. Carrying a snake like that around ones neck is nothing short of stupi...

Local 'FB70' Tubs

Visited the Jhb expo today and saw some guys in the foyer selling a rack system with tubs produced locally that are similar to the Freedom Breeder FB70 tubs. Does anyone know who they are so I can contact them?

Re: Heating

@ RaD and Blob: Any wattage heating pad becomes 'safe' with the addition of a proper thermostat with the thermostat probe stuck to the pad. If you're however worried about the heating pad still burning your snake (hedgehog for Blob) through direct contact you can stick it to the underside of a ceram...

Re: THC-220 Humidity and Temperature Controller

Unfortunately the 'manual' is a doublesided A4 sheet that just explains the basic operation in very bad english. No explanation on re-calibration of the device.

Re: THC-220 Humidity and Temperature Controller

I'm keeping ball pythons and african fat tailed geckos in the room. Overwintering my nepenthes and some other heat loving carnivorous plants in there as well. Gets very dry in winter here on the highveld with occasional problematic sheds. Maintaining higher room humidity also has the advantage of gr...

THC-220 Humidity and Temperature Controller

I got a THC-220 Day/Night Humidity and Temperature Controller to help manage my reptile room ambient conditions. The humidistat however reads about 10% lower that the other hygrometer (Vicks model). Does anyone know if the THC-220 can be recalibrated if need be. I want to get another, different type...

Pairing pythons

I'll be doing my 1st breeding this year and am quite psyched about it! What I want to confirm however is how best to pair my pythons. Most sources seem to put the male in the female's tub while I've found others that does it the other way around, i.e. putting the female in the male's tub. Which way ...

Tubs for 2.5+ kg

I'm currently also using the space saver racks as per this discussion: viewtopic.php?f=80&t=32533

I would however like to know what tubs to use once the outgrow these, e.g. similar in size to the Freedom Breeder FB-70?
