Here is the snakes first, they are my son's pride and joy, and oh boy if mommy doesn't look after them properly when he is away, I hear it. He has very clear instuctions every Sunday before going back home to his dad

Re: Spring Terrarium and Aquarium expo Randburg

Expo was great. My 6 year old told me afterwards it was the best place I showed him. He decided there that he really needs another snake. Hehe he said his heart have space to love one more. He took a while to decide, but settled on a very pretty little king snake (i think that is what it is called) ...

Re: Kenyan Sand Boa, acting odd or not?

Awesome, thanks Poepstring. I'm sommer going to do that now. Luckily I'm working from home this week. The vet showed me yesterday how to dip the snake into the water (I was scared she is going to drown) and gave me something to spray her with afterwards. I have not yet put her back into her enclosur...

Re: Kenyan Sand Boa, acting odd or not?

Ah, that makes sense, I will chuck away the sand that I have in the tanks and wash and sterilise the tanks and put new sand in the tanks. Thanks for all the advise

Re: Kenyan Sand Boa, acting odd or not?

Hahaha thanks Unforgiven, I don't handle them, I'm a real girl, too scared of them. My son is not visiting this weekend, so on Monday I will let him put them into containers and I will let my vet handle and treat them lol

Re: Kenyan Sand Boa, acting odd or not?

Ok, I've checked, there is mites. Small little blackish thingies that I can see on the top part of the body and lower part a few as well. She is irritated beyond belief, so I checked and let her go back into her enclosure. I will search and see how to treat, otherwise I'll just ask my vet to help me...

Re: Kenyan Sand Boa, acting odd or not?

Thanks Lillypod, what does stargazing mean? Is that something bad? I'm still very new with snakes, and don't know a lot

Kenyan Sand Boa, acting odd or not?

I noticed something odd tonight in Daisy's behaviour. She is a Kenyan sand boa, not too sure about her age, but could be around 9 months perhaps. Normally I'll see her head poke out for short amounts of time and if I'm lucky she'll humour me and sail around on the sand in the evening. However, tonig...

Re: New addition to join my reptile family

Thanks serpent, I try that way. Must admit it became the joke of the house that the snakes bite mommy, but the littelest one (that does not even stay here) can handle them as and when he pleases. They are like putty in his little hands lol. I resigned myself that all they want from me is food. Here ...

New addition to join my reptile family

My reptile family is gowing rapidly. Thanks to AM Rock-Python I have now a very nice yellow Kenyan Sand boa. She settled in nicely and took a fuzzy on first attempt earlier on. Hehe I named her Daisy and my six year old has claimed her for himself. As soon as she is showing herself again, or if my s...
