Interesting looking annulifera

Found this guy on a call out today in Pta North. Long slender hood, slender body type similar to what would be more typical in melanoleuca and no throat band. Not the usual for the ones I normally find.

LD for Dispholidus and Teletornis

Does anyone know what the estimated MON, MAR 17, 2014 values might be for Dispholidus typus and Teletornis capensis? Can't seem to find "reliable" info on this.

Re: First time ever treatment for Snouted cobra bite

Ok, first off, I know this is a very old topic (although very interesting) but just to get back to the point. What would be the "expected" time of an adult N. annulifera and N. melanoleuca in case of an IV bite with regards to the onset of serious symptoms?

Venom question

Question; just for the sake of interest, can fresh snake venom be frozen in a conventional freezer? And when thawed, does it maintain it's toxicity?

Re: Scaly credit check

The manager said that she would let me know if they find him and keep me updated. Naturally some of the politically correct employees feel that all this was a failed assassination attempt (via non venomous snake), but obviously the entire situation is kind of unsettling whatever the motive.

Re: Scaly credit check

Also recommended that the branch check security footage in and around the time that they found the snakes as well as prior to check for any suspicious activity.

Scaly credit check

Got a referral from Bushviper last week Friday which had ended in quite a unique situation. The snake had been found inside a branch of a bank just North of Pretoria. After following up the following morning and not locating the snake I forwarded the following to their Area Offices... "To whom ...

Re: SOS² Reptile Expo 2013 - Gauteng

Must say, we totally enjoyed it. I loved the death adders, yellow eyelas:, cascables and big purple mangroves and monocle cobras (unfotunatley I could not get a price on the monocles). Bought the sub adult white lip tree viper and she is a beauty. Couldn't believe I only paid R500 for her. There had...

Re: Pretoria zoo’s black mamba is M.I.A.

If the snake came in injured why does the admin reflect weeks pasr between donation time to amputation of tail tip by the zoo vets themselves. All new animals are checked by the vets and surely they would have operated immediately. One might argue that the injury had been an old one which had healed...

Re: Pretoria zoo’s black mamba is M.I.A.

Which is a blatant lie! Here's a thought. If you lose one the most dangerous animals in Africa due to negligence or lack of any security what better way to further tarnish your image by admitting the animal had been injured while in your care? Better to say "you got it in the injured state.&quo...

Re: Pretoria zoo’s black mamba is M.I.A.

And so the negligence and irresponsibility is spun round into a great new marketing strategy with the "Great Houdini" becoming the centre of attention.

Re: Pretoria zoo’s black mamba is M.I.A.

OMG!!! You see this is what really FU@kI#g Pi@ses me OFF! The snake was not injured prior to donation!!! I donated it in PERFECT health, shedding well and eating like a pig. It got injured about a month AFTER DONATION! They should know this as the amputation had been done at the zoo by their vets!!!...

Re: Pretoria zoo’s black mamba is M.I.A.

9Naja, yes I would be able to if it as a piece of the tail had been injured and had exposed bone which had been amputated. Nice to see that the snake is "possibly" stolen. Bull, had been my opinion from the start. Stated my annoyance of all of this at the onset when it was reported missing...
