Re: Waterberg, Limpopo, South Africa

Very nice! Please PM me your e-mail address. I'll send you all my Lephalale records to compare. The area is different, but it may give you an idea what to look out for as well. BTW - The "Pedioplanis lineoocelata" you posted is a dull Ichnotroopis capensis. Look at the keeled scaled and ro...

Re: Northern Cape 2013

Very cool, and these are some incredible photos! Well done with the Breviceps calling shot!

Where was the A.tristis from? I've only ever found DOR specimens, and when I returned to the coordinates where they were found the soil in the area was rock hard...

Re: Limpopo Trip - HUGE Dial-Up Warning!!

We settled on P.stuhlmannii because.... uhm... well I haven't really settled on it yet :) There are other specimens from the same area which were identified by experts. There are 3 Prosymnas in the area, P.bivittata, P.lineata and P.stuhlmannii. It's clearly not P.bivittata because the colour is wro...

Baby Iguanas

I have 13 baby iguanas that I urgently need to sell for a friend. I don't keep reptiles as pets because I am seldom in Johannesburg for long periods of time, so if someone can help (or knows of a pet shop that can help) to sell these, I would be most grateful. If you are interested even in buying ju...

Re: First D-SLR

Brilliant reply Seaborne! I've worked out my response to the Nikon vs Canon argument, and I'm still waiting for someone to find a flaw in it: Get whatever your family or friends have, cause that will allow you to borrow other lenses when you can't afford your own! (BTW - Canon 600D is brilliant! You...

Re: Southern DRC

Thanks for posting this. Sounds like you are having a good time there!

The pennant-winged nightjar is awesome. I've only seen one once at Pafuri, but it was without the long feathers (late in the season). Their call is really cool though, as it sounds like a sprinkler system going off.

Re: Lephalale trip - Dial-Up Warning

Ok, so from what I can tell, the following is the species list: (Common names added where I know them. Not everyone saw everything, but most of us would have seen more than 30 species) Alive Atractaspis bibronii - Bibron's Stiletto Snake Lamprophis capensis - Brown House Snake Psammophis subtaeniatu...

Re: Lephalale trip - Dial-Up Warning

You guys got C.breyeri as well! Nice! Why did I have to miss out on the evening when you found the shield-nose... :(

Thanks for posting this. You've got some really cool photos. I can't add 3 species to my list all that often, so the herping was brilliant!

Re: Habitat quiz!

I love it when cool threads are revived. They may even get me to post things again :) These are pretty difficult, but my guess would have been: HN1: Somewhere in the Karoo... so between Hondeklipbaai and Bloemfontein HN2: Augrabies or surrounding area HN3: Namibia somewhere :) HN4: Namibia somewhere...
