Re: Facebook Video

Thanx Everybody, I am surprised that no snake expert left a reply of what might have been the case with these snakes. Things like these might give a wrong message to laymen like me. To me it looks like these snakes are "harmless", which I know they are not. It might encourage people tp pic...

Facebook Video

Good Day, I saw this on Facebook and with my limited knowledge of Puff Adders I know that normally they are very docile, but can strike from a lying position in a 1/4 of a second. Can this be true? Was the fangs pulled and if it was do a snake not grow new fangs? Was the Venom Glands removed? My bra...

Re: ID Baby Tortoise

Thank you Tony,

When I compare the photo with a photo on Google. Yes I must say they do look alike.

Nope I have not kept it. Just saw it. I saw him in Soutpansberg and I am living in Pretoria, Gauteng.

I am just curious.

ID Baby Tortoise

Good Day, I have seen this baby tortoise in Limpopo in Soutpansberg. I took the photo and he was very friendly. Hid his body only once. Could somebody please ID it, because to me it looked like a "Berg Skilpad". Why was it wandering alone and what does it eat when wandering alone like that...

Re: Thermostat Wiring - Please Help

Thanx Bud,

I got it right.

Live from Power to the P terminal. (P is common)
Live from the L2 Terminal to the Heat Pad.
The L1 Terminal is left open.
The neutral from Power connected straight to Heat Pad.

Thermostat Wiring - Please Help

Good Day, I have purchased a relatively cheap analog thermostat recently, but I am struggling with connecting it up. I have tried several ways with no luck. The Thermostat has 3 points L1, L2, and P. I have no idea what it represents, but I thought because the thermostat has to go on and off it must...

Re: Ball Python

Cyberduke,

I forgot to comment on the Thermo. I had a look at the link.

How does it work.can you set the minimum and maximum temps. I do not know much about these things, but I am sure the manual will explain how to do it.

Re: Ball Python

Good Day Cyberduke, Thank you for the very detailed reply. I agree with your reply on the permits, because it is the same info which I can find. yes I am from Pretoria. I do not intend to breed. At the moment I have 3 snakes and it is somewhat still a learning process. Food is difficult in our area....

Ball Python

I can not find anything on a BP in the forums and therefore I am not sure whether this post should be here or with the Pythons. I intend my next pet snake to be a BP. As far as I can research, a BP is an exotic reptile. This means that one can keep it in captivity without a permit in SA. Is this cor...

Re: Feeding

Although it looks like duct tape, it is not. It is pieces of strong type of denim material. My wife and I glued it with strong Silicone on top of the hole and also at the bottom of the hole. We let it dry for 24hrs. We are still going to paint the hole cave brown on the inside as well as the outside...

Feeding

My Corn is 151cm long and weighs 890g. I got him as an adult though about 10cm smaller. He is used taking live rodents. I used to feed him 2 adult mice a week, but due to unavailability at pet shops I changed to jumper rats. The jumper rats are bigger than the adult mice though. He only takes 1 jump...
