Spider and other bug ID please

Hi All,,

A friend send me this pic of a spider that appears to be lunch to some other insect. The picture was taken at Boulders Beach, Simons Town

Could someone please identify both the spider and the bug?

Re: Baby scorp just relaxing in the tub :)

Hi Ceratogyrus, I also thought Uroplectus, but it was waaay too small to make a positive ID. Gekosin, i tried a drop of water and a VERY small piece of squashed baby cockroach for about 6 hours in a dark cupboard, but he didnt even move out of his corner, so I doubt if he wouldve survived if I had k...

Baby scorp just relaxing in the tub :)

So, I'd love to ask for an ID on this little guy, but it should be virtually impossible I'm thinking, and not only due to my pathetic photographing skills - he is miniscule! Have to love the wife though - she comes into the lounge and says: "Engel, daar is iets vir jou in die bad wat jy gou moe...

Re: Suggestions needed for new inhabitant.

@BV: I have (or had) P Granulatus, P Transvaalicus and others - they are awesome to have (even managed to breed a P Villosus once) but not really suited to display. Thanks for the heads-up on the frogs @Cascada: Thanks for the words of encouragement - however, I dont want to just keep on getting the...

Suggestions needed for new inhabitant.

Hi All, My last tarantula (Haplopelma Lividum) just died! I had it for about 18 months and seemed very happy with the living arrangements (Exo Terra mini) with all the necessary food/humidity etc. It stopped eating about 2 months ago - I tried varying temps, humidity, food (tried crickets of differe...

Re: New with T Keeping.....

The seeming preoccupation with handling of tarantulas have always fascinated me. Does anyone actually think any Tarantula ENJOYS being groped, poked and in general being irritated by having it removed from its "natural" environment? Keep it, feed it, enjoy it, watch it,learn about it - but...

I read about this species just this weekend in a book my father-in-law bought on South African insects. Will email him to look it up again and email me info.

Re: Visited Perry's Bridge Reptile Park

We were there on our honeymoon in 2009, and we loved the place - wish it was closer so we could go more often! Talking about reptile parks - i noticed something the other day whilst visiting the crocodile park near Cape Vidal - they have a gaboon in an outside enclosure (snake pit type thing) with a...
