I have had it with a pair of baby gaboon adders that i got they day they were born and it was a couple months before either one had shed. I fed them and they ate but just didnt want to shed. Now they growing quite well and shed e...

Re: what substrate is everyone using?

I use a variety of substrates for my snakes, some have astroturf, which is nice but the urine seeps through onto the wood and the whole carpet needs to be scrubbed often but if you can get two astroturf cuts per tank it works like a charm, but for beardies and leopard geckos its not the best as thei...

Re: The Mamba with 9 Lives ***(WARNING : GRAPHIC IMAGES)***

What a pity about the end result... but you have to give yourself and your missus a huge pat on the back for what you did for the snake. Well done for trying tho.

Re: Considering getting back in the hobby....

My amazon tree boas tank ranges between 28 and 30 degrees in summer, winter I can't recall each tank but snake room temp was around 26 degrees. Neonates range from about R700 up to about R2000 depends on the colour you get.

Re: Considering getting back in the hobby....

No i honestly have not found them fussy. I have got 4 at the moment, a breeding pair of adults, a sub adult male and a juvenile female and all are in the same tank, with a heating pad, large water bowl branches and plastic plants and they doing really well. My males did go off food for a while over ...

Re: Considering getting back in the hobby....

Another non venomous arboreal snake I could recommend is an Amazon Tree Boa. There are quite a few colour ranges in SA and in all the years I have kept mine, I found that a big water bowl and maybe spray once a month works like a charm. They also quite nippy so it is a bit of a good snake to start w...
