Re: Outdoor Monitor Encloure

Nice enclosure Dean, well done! Are you not concerned he will burrow out under your foundation in time and when you least expect it as monitors do? I have used bricks like paving under the substrate of all my outdoor lizard pits. the narrow gaps between the bricks allows rain water to drain but prev...

Re: 1st clutch of the season

Interesting breeding, although I don't see much to gain by intentionally crossing different lines of albino in the future. In theory, all of the hatchling from that pairing should be 100% T+ albino. 50% should be visual T+ albino het for T- and 25% should be double homozygous for both lines of albin...

Re: Wild Ornate monitor nest

Thanks BV, but it's the upright hominid predators which were more of the concern in this case ;)

Re: Wild Ornate monitor nest

These are not from my private collection and are to be relocated and released into the wild. V. ornatus are prettier than most V. niloticus I have seen but their temperament is much the same and don't make the best captives as far as monitors go.

Re: East African Gaboon Viper

Mr. 54bogger, unfortunately our ethics are much too far apart to enter into any further or specific discussion about the species I keep. The fact that you just dismiss the value of USArk in present times demonstrates your ignorance. I have already spent enough time trying to make you see the bigger ...

Re: East African Gaboon Viper

You want me NOT to do what is legal in my state so they don't pass more laws? 54bogger, Do you think USArk would approve of your behavior? You most likely don't care about what USArk thinks but remember they are the only organization out there fighting for you to be able to continue keeping your be...
