Re: A photographic guide to the Chameleon of South Africa.

Amazing work Fooble, really inspiring. We have a family of Knysna dwarfs resident in our garden in George and are really enjoying them.

Re: Little Idea

You can tie up the connection to only accept the MAC address of his mobile device and password protect any command sent to the setup, as well as report any command sent via email etc so that if in error it can be quickly rectified. The trick is now to multiplex more than one input/output into one Pi...

Re: My favorite shots from this summer

The beauty of that region makes up for it's bitter winters. On the subject of similar characteristics evolved 1000's miles apart, years ago I noticed remarkable similarities between our Aparallactus sp. and the American Tantilla sp., both appearance and habits. There must be a scientific term for th...

Re: The Fall of the Online Reptile Forum?

This topic has been on my mind for some time now too. Most websites in general are having to compete with facebook these days. If I make a product to sell it's easier to setup a facebook website than it is to have a domain reserved and a website built for me. It's the trends of today and we need to ...

Re: Nosy Sakatia, Madagascar [Epic DUW]

Place looks fantastic! Strange that there is no sea surf in sight, unless the main reef is far off shore.
Not many have the Madagascan hognose on their species list. Thanks for sharing Wes.

Re: ATC 300 set up help

The fact that you can set time durations on it means that there is a timer circuit in it, why you cannot set a reference to GMT, a timezone specific time, mystifies me. The hardware is all there, once again software programmers suck as well as the knob that approved their code.

Re: Heating

If the wire was connected directly to the mains without the thermostat how hot would it get? Then fit it into a groove in a piece of wood or place a piece of carpet over it and then see how hot it gets without a thermostat. This will give you an indication of what you can expect if your thermostat f...

Re: Vaalwater , Limpopo Photos.

Fooble it appears Photobucket has limited views to your images. I don't know about anyone else but for me the images are replaced by text saying "Is this your photo? Upgrade to Plus for additional bandwidth."
Maybe move them to our gallery?

Re: Warning...

Yes that's the idea. Smoke alarms are usually battery powered so you would need to buffer the alarm output so the batteries don't power the relay coil, I think a contactor would be better which is basically a relay that can switch larger amounts of power.

Re: Warning...

Glad you didn't suffer great loss. It sounds to me like no negligence involved here, but it is testament to my total dislike for these 2 prong plugs. I HATE them! Here we are in the 21st century and I've yet to see one 2 prong socket that works like it should. From phone chargers to hair dryers the ...

Re: Lost and Found

Dear god, so many 'reptile specialists' out there, we are so blessed. In future post photos of any unknown reptiles you encounter here Joannah, might save you a finger or two. Oh, and please add your location to your profile, helps to not have to ask the dreaded question for the 10 millionth time be...

Re: where can I shame someones name

Explain to this person that you are unhappy with your dealing with him (assuming it's a he) and you need it sorted out. You are giving him an opportunity to respond so that this issue can be settled amicably. If this opportunity is not taken and used before the end of the week you will go public wit...
