Re: Tortoise identification - from Utrecht area.

Thank you. I suppose they may not be kept as a pet, may bite a finger of a young kid. :)

Re: Backyard Herping in PMB - Part 2

Nice pictures, tell me do you have any idea who would be interested in the night adder we just caught? I want it off my property as we have two cats and two dogs. The dogs have killed one already and I think this little guy needs to move house.

Re: Can somebody please identify these snakes?

Thanks Byron,

Lippy (new name because of the swollen lip) is showing no signs of discomfort what-so-ever, but I shall still keep an eye on her. She ate her supper without any problem, saw her at the bottom of the garden chewing on a bone, so I think that I am more worried than she is.

Re: Can somebody please identify these snakes?

Hi there, I am in PMB and just over a month ago I found a dead Night Adder out back on the patio. I assumed it had been killed by some bush cutters that were used in the open lot next door to us. Just about an hour ago I heard my boerbull give her characteristic bay and I thought the vervit monkeys ...

Re: How cool is this?

I do not harm them if they do not touch me. I avoid them but they tend to pick on me a lot. Those big buggers huntsman? not sure what they are called has nearly landed on my face on two occasions, once when I opened my front door it swung out and missed my face by millimeters, the second time it was...

Re: The last straw

I do not keep snakes, but a bearded dragon and I can only sympathise with your loss. Be strong and is will get easier to deal with. Just remember him as he was not as he is.

Re: How cool is this?

Awesome pics was enjoying it until I got to the end. Yuch absolutely hate those arachnids. Had a quick look around me at home to make sure that they did not escape the screen before I moved on. (",)

Re: Weird behaviour

Because when they get angry they puff up and turn black so I would assume they see black as a colour of aggression.

Re: earthworms?

Earthworms pack fat into the liver and will kill your beardie, not now but after a few years. That is what I was told by a reptile expert. It has taken me more than a year to get my girl to shed the extra grams she accumulated from her previous owner who did not know that it was bad for her.
