Re: Platyceps florulentus (Flowered Whip Snake)

Hi Bushviper, Thank you for your reply. I think laws may have changed some what recently, as I remember hearing of an import three years ago. The person in question who is arranging the import has a strong reputation in the UK (and over-seas, i believe) so I doubt they would be willing to risk such ...

Platyceps florulentus (Flowered Whip Snake)

Does anybody have captive husbandry experience with Platyceps (formerly Coluber ) florulentus (Flowered Whip Snake)? So far I have only found one care sheet, which was for Psammophis sibilans (Hissing Sand Snake) which said the care sheet would also serve admirably for P. florulentus. I'm after as m...

Re: Despite the SSS - another tragedy

This has pissed me off big time....HOW could the hospital be so useless?! - Surely they could have ventilated the poor lad? I am so sorry to hear this Thea, I bet it has made you very angry indeed that a young lad has been killed due to incompitence. If Dr. Bush was in the country, surely they would...

Dendroaspis bites.

Hello, Before I go any further, I understand that some of you would not be willing to discuss envenomations, but, I'd just like to hear from first hand experience (if any bite victims are still alive, that is) of Dendroaspis species. I understand that Mambas are extremely dangerous snakes, and was i...

Re: Snakebite in PNG.

I understand that Antivenom takes a conciderable amount of time and money to be produced, but I strongly believe that there should not be any profit made for human life. Somehow this will not get you many supporters as all medicines are made and sold at massive profits especially if it saves lives....

Re: Snakebite in PNG.

Great response Bushviper. I am aware of the difficulties faced, not only in Swaziland, but throughout Africa, aswell as PNG and Indonesia. - We, as people can all make a difference if we help the causes, as nobody deserves to die. The people are trying to survive, and so are the snakes, and it is wh...

Snakebite in PNG.

I was just directed to this video on YouTube, inwhich contains footage of a bite from a PNG Taipan (Oxyuranus s. canni) which was taken by a world known Toxinologist, Snakebite Clinician, and Professional Herpetologist Dr. David Williams. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jHg6j6tqCho The footage also g...
