Re: Bushveld weekend in Limpopo

BV - If you can hook an Impala it should be biltong.....fair is fair!

Sounds like a great idea and an awesome weekend. I would be keen and I would love to bring my son with.

As BV says, please give us a ball park figure to work with?

Thank you

Re: My Green Mamba (Dendroaspis anguticeps) bite

Hi Eddy. Glad it turned out well Eddie! Well done Eddy for staying calm. I have always worried about this aspect myself. I think if I was ever bitten I would go into a dead panic even knowing what we all know. Thank you for documenting the symptoms for the rest of the community. I am hoping that Arn...

Re: Rhino Horn, whats your opinion?

Great Topic. The problem with removing a wild rhino’s horn is that they use them for foraging and for defence. Maybe it can be compared to a venomoid. The animal is just a shadow of its former self and there are effects to the animal’s natural behaviour. The head of Wild Life Services in the Pilansb...

Re: South Africa's Bite Darwin Award Winners

This post in regards to the little girl who got bitten in her bed. Mods this will be a double post, if deemed inappropriate please remove it as I have also posted this under the thread above. To my own mind I have also put the free handling issue to bed. I have never hated free handling, although I ...

Re: COBRA BITE - LIVER PROBLEMS

Let’s hope the little one pulls though without any amputations or debridgments. All the best to her and her family. Mods this will be a double post, if deemed inappropriate please remove it as I am also posting this in the Thread- Dawin Awards. To my own mind I have also put the free handling issue ...

Re: South Africa's Bite Darwin Award Winners

This thread has just gone south.
Instead of using it as a platform to get your point across, you have now just made those who were interested in your point of view shudder!

Re: South Africa's Bite Darwin Award Winners

KingHero- Please be constructive in your chats, how does this help? Sico - Great Post, full of facts and to the point. Mr. Eckley, now that someone has responded to you in a sensible manner without insulting you (The first post), maybe you can take something away from this thread. If anything, it sh...

Re: South Africa's Bite Darwin Award Winners

Why does the real point at hand not get discussed? How will this affect the trade if Mr. Eckley gets bitten? I am confused, as we have had various bites this year and a tragic death, and yet there has been no real effect, which I am aware of on the trade. Do Natcon even have the resources to investi...

Re: South Africa's Bite Darwin Award Winners

I have though about some of Mr. Ecklys points before with this thread. And I do not want to get into the debate about free handling, I do not condone it and I agree with most of the points individuals make regarding it. However I have seen the moderators nail guys for posting other people pics on th...

Re: Mabula snake bite

I wish the ranger a speedy and full recovery but I am worried about the ramifications of this. As usual the media is hyping it; I just read an article on News24 titled "Two Rangers Bitten in a month". We had demos shut down on our lodge when the tiger attached a kid at Zebula. The company ...

Re: European venomous snake commmunity in shock.

FuscusV2- I assume you have never been on Luke's site, he has his reasons for handling his Kings the way he did, developed over years. The really big Kings hated to be hooked or tonged and reacted with aggression. I only hope that some will continue the great work he was doing, RIP Luke a legend! My...

Re: a close encounter

Like someone else once mentioned on a thread before, it’s not running its strategic regrouping!
Glad it turned out fine, must have been one scary moment.

Re: Mozambique Spitter Bite – Caution GRAPHIC

Eish- I reminder of what can happen on our lodge at anytime, but thankfully has never occurred in 25 years. I can’t help but think of my 2 year olds arm, it’s so small and skinny! Jen is it safe to say that besides amputation, is this the worse case scenario? I am assuming and need to be corrected i...
