New burm

I got this lovely burm on sunday, beautiful temperament, lovely colours. I am a bit worried about one or two things though. I got it from a pet shop where it was housed with two other siblings and two adults. I discovered afterwards though that they were mite ridden and had clearly spent significant...

Re: My macklots python

Thank you all! My new project is going to be taming the Macklots, or dying from the inevitable blood loss through my arms and knuckles, whichever comes first! Truly though, they are beautiful animals, and I would love to get a second one. What's the current going rate on them these days?

Re: Hog island and rubber boas

Do you have any that aren't special morphs? I'm a big fan of their natural colouration, and would prefer a normal phase rather than in an albino phase.

They look great though!

Re: My macklots python

I love them, even with their strong temperament. How are your scrub python babies doing? I've been away for ages, so still trying to catch up. Yours looked absolutely gorgeous!

Hog island and rubber boas

Hi all,

Does anyone breed these species in South Africa? I am looking to get some slender bodied mini-boas and these fit the bill perfectly, but they aren't something one sees often, but I am sure someone out there must have interest in them too.

Thanks in advance!

My macklots python

Decided to take the little bugger out for a play session. He is absolutely against being handled, and 3/4 of the photos landed up being blurry shots of him trying to eat my camera. I still adore him though! http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7436/9354706393_dbd79d1f84.jpg Macklot's python by sildargod , ...

Re: Servals, Caracals and the law

Fantastic! Do they permit adoptions or is the breeding program for reintroduction to the wild?

Servals, Caracals and the law

Hi all, I have recently been taken by the marvellous animals and have done a whole lot of research into their care in captivity. By all appearances, they should make a fantastic addition to any household, and more especially mine as we are free children to attack and looking to get kittens of some s...

Re: Which macro lens to get?

MrG, I can't, I shoot Canon now. :p The Nikon is my friend's, I was playing with it to see if there really was anything to the whole "Canon vs Nikon" debate, and I can assure everyone, there ISN'T. It all boils down to comfort and what lenses you've invested in. In all honesty, I would rat...

Re: Which macro lens to get?

Sigma 70mm f/2.8 is an absolutely excellent lens and given the crop factor works out to a fair to good portrait lens too. I've used it coupled with a d80 body and it's magical. http://www.sacamera.co.za/product/1012072/Sigma_70mm_F2.8_EX_DG_Macro_for_Nikon/ Alternatively the Nikon 105mm f/2.8 featur...
