Re: Mantis Care

What pretty little guys. I only get the plain green and light brown ones in my garden (Gauteng South Africa) and I love them. Everyone in the family freaks when they come indoors or see a tiny baby, but I just let it hop onto my hand and put it in a plant outside. I actually have quite a few in my g...

Hi all' Long time no post. I have finally finished my chemotherapy sessions and am looking forward to a cancer free 2014. I hope the ladies on the forum have all had their mammograms? I still have my two giant bosc monitors and am wondering how much I should be feeding them. I feed them twice a week...

Re: I survived the surgery

Hi all Well it has been almost 2 weeks since my surgery and I feel great. I'm still at home and not allowed to go back to work and tomorrow I find out if I need chemo. That's the one thing that has worried me so far. But if it prevents further problems, then I will do as the doctor says. Thanks so m...

Re: Finding Ox heart

HI there Where are you based? I see Johannesburg but East West North or South? I go to my local fruit and veg city/food lover's market and find packets of chicken hearts in the fridges near the chicken livers and other offal. I'm talking Edenvale but if one of the franchises keep them then I'm sure ...

My Boscs are growing!

Hi All I see with interest that there are quite a few questions and quite a bit of interest in the bosc monitor. I hope I am doing everything right! I got my boscs about 14 months ago. I was told that they were 4 months old at the time - they were about 25 cm long at the time. I kept them in a large...

Re: my bosc

Hi there I have 2 adult boscs in an outdoor enclosure. They also like to bury themselves in the soil. It doesn't seem to bother them and they can be under there for hours at a time. I am told that they burrow in the wild so digging must be in their nature. Even when I put them in the indoor cage for...

Re: new to bocsc monitor

Hi all Looks like my two have it far too good! They eat like little pacmen. Mine get crickets at least once a week. I drop about 100 crickets in the enclosure so they can run around and catch them and get some exercise. I also feed them on chicken necks about once every 10 days - at least 6 necks ea...

Re: Second envenomation by Bosc monitor

Thanks for the heads up!! My pair are getting really big now. I have put them in their outside enclosure now that it's warmer and Louis has decided that I am not welcome in the enclosure!! He has always been a grumpy sod but now he actually opens his mouth wide as if to bite - which I am in doubt he...

Re: Axolotl Growth Record [Photos]

They are really fabulous now. It's amazing how creatures change over time and I can't believe these guys are already 4 months old!! Where has this year gone? Speaking of a silky skin, I also found that some gecko's have a skin like velvet - so soft and smooth. It's quite amazing when you think about...

Bosc update

Well, in my post of 25 August Louis weighed in at around 1.9 kg and Lily at 1.7 kg. I weighed them again tonight and find that Louis is now 2.7 kg and Lily 2.4 kg!! They are growing in leaps and bounds and are both very well rounded. I am just hoping that they are not getting too fat! Does anyone kn...

Re: i got an ingauna for free . . . .

He/she is a really handsome fellow or pretty girl - depending. I hope you have many years of fun taking care of him/her. I have 2 boscs and even though the male hates to be picked up the female does tolerate it some of the time. I have been told that they can be difficult to tame and it has taken me...

Re: Snake Ring

Hi Kev I love your jewellery. You are extremely talented and I wish I could afford to buy something from you but I have Rockerfeller's taste but not his money!! Re: Keeping a beardie Hydrated

Hi there I have a "swimming pool" for my beardie and he uses it regularly and loves a good soak. Contrary to what people think they do enjoy water and I think you should get a large container that's not very deep, put water in it and put in your beardie. You will see that once he gets used...
