Please help ID snake from Borakalalo

The photos are not great at all, but the only ones I managed to take. This snake was very quick! He came past me right next to my feet, moved with speed, and disappeared in the reeds next to the river. My first thought was Dwarf Whip snake, as the head pattern seems similar. But not so sure? Thanks nvlooi, Armata & Trevor. We saw a Cape Whip Snake, and puff adder there in October last year, as well as one I struggle to ID due to poor photo. What about the "koper kapel" ? - not sure if spelled correctly or what it is in English. The guy at the entrance just told us to be on...

Thanks everyone. Yes I'm lucky to still be around :-)
And yes...he does have a mean look. That's what struck me most: he seemed fearless of me, in the way he came back out to stare at me. That made me realise: "oh now...get away from this guy."
