Re: THE ANNUAL SAVANNAH MONITOR TRAGEDY!

Personally I like the care sheet. Yes these monitors will never be snapping any cats necks but most of the other info is pretty accurate.

Re: Difference between Mambas?

Viridis has large scales where as jamesoni looks more regular. Jamesoni is also more olive almost blueish green in colour. Once you see the two specimens together you will easily see the difference. I know their are a few posts about both of them on this site and pictures.

Re: P.Sebae / African rock python available in SA ?????

P. sebae natalensis is pretty easy to get hold of and the look pretty much the same as the ones from higher up in Africa. I would just get those.

Re: Johan Marais

I’m sure it’s not secretive, just that there’s a lot more going on that may surpass the need to update everyone, like getting through the hospital stay. I mean come on should we request a detailed report from him on this matter, or just say get well soon?

Re: Johan Marais

Venomous snakes are unpredictable and accidents happen any experienced herper will tell you that fact. He is known to be a good and cautious handler, passing judgement is pointless. If he was one of our free handling friends then yes I guess you could say I told you so. I also wish him a speedy reco...

Re: Rhombic Skaapsteker

Release the snake as close as you can to where it was caught. Keeping it in captivity does it no favours, these animals have been surviving winters for hundreds of years.

Re: Please read.

Come on guys, Reynard apologised on a public site, let it be. Everyone has made assumptions in the past and most won’t even bother to apologize.

Re: Images of D. jamesoni Northern Angola

Stunning photo’s of such a beautiful snake. Their resemblance to D. viridis is quite striking. Now choosing the most beautiful Dendroaspis for me is impossible as they are all uniquely striking snakes. You are very lucky to have the job you do, I’m sure the vast majority of us are very jealous. :-D

Re: Breeders Subforum - Suggestion

I like the idea of the breeds rating system, but what about the buyers? It’s easy to say someone is a bad breeder “because my snake doesn’t eat” but then the buyer hasn’t even tried to do what the breeder said about the animals husbandry. Or the “buyer” who asks for thousands of pictures from every ...

Re: Northern Cape 2013

Dean, thanks for this post! That area is definitely one of my favourite areas to herp, even though I haven’t been there in years! Pity you didn’t find any B. Schneideri along the coast.
