Re: Small black flies in Snake cage

Great, thank you Wolf.
Yes, I also picked up something about the eggs. I want to get rid of them before the first clutch of eggs arrive.
Don't want my first breading season to be ruined by flies. Even if they can not harm the eggs they will just let my stress level go up.

Thank you for the feedback.

Re: Small black flies in Snake cage

So the best would be is to clean the cage form top to bottem again (Maybe with Detol) and see if they come back?

Re: Small black flies in Snake cage

In the one cage none. The other one, a plastic one just for decor.
Also in the one cage is a pice of wood (always been there), and then the hideouts.
For the floor I only use white hand paper towels.

Small black flies in Snake cage

Good day All I have the following problem. Only recently I found these small black flies (looks like fruit flies) in 2 of my snake cages. What I found on the internet is it can be as a result of the cage not being clean or water standing for a long period of time. But what if it is not one of the tw...

Re: Riding for a purpose!!

LOL at Jamster. I think it is a great idea. I am doing the Argus 2012 so I am game for the same thing on this side.
I will get my wife to work on a costume so I can stand out and make all reptiles proud!

Re: reptile lighting

Just another question on lighting.
If you keep your reptiles in your garage and you have the lights constantly on and off after sunset.
Will this create a problem for the snakes or is it just better just to close them off with a blanket?

Re: Who is breeding?

Snake kid I agree it is a huge process just to get everything in order to take care of our reptile friends and the hobby is still small, also think it's due to the processes.
It is such a great hobby and I try to educate people all around me hopefully it will rub off eventually.

Re: Who is breeding?

This topic might be forgotten but I would just like to comment on what BV posted on page one with regards to Corn snakes in the Western Cape. Pet shops around here get their stock from Durban and Jo-burg (their will be some buying locally but the ones I know is mostly Jo-burg) and as everyone mentio...
