Re: Etiquette, Legalities and Science

I suppose the bigger piture is that a snake's life is saved from a spade or whatever other implement people find.

Re: Please ID Spider

I once read that the true black widow is only found from Capetown northwards along the west coast, and that the black ones we do find elsewhere is just a really dark brown. don't know Latin names for spiders, but I'd say brown button or false button.

Re: Ball Python Bedding/Substrate

Many petstores sell them in my area in the Vaal, also Petmasters sell them and I'm sure Tim's Reptiles could also hook you up.

Re: Wood-plastic Composites

Those composites are extremely heavy and very expensive. That would probably make it impractical.

Re: Transport and Captivity Permit frustration

Exactly these types of things that make many people say 'screw permits'.

Re: Etiquette, Legalities and Science

It's only sad that FS has almost no support in this regard. A few years ago when applying for a permit to keep indigenous geckos the response I got was, "I'm not making a two hour drive to inspect a few geckos", just go ahead and keep them. Any pointers on where or whom to apply to fora ca...

So this means technically a private individual is not allowed to remove, say a snake, from a neighbor's house?

Re: First time Corn Snake owner

If it's a male, you can switch to ince every 10-14 days once he reaches early adulthood. Females, once every 7-10 days. Just watch out for overweight issues as stated, corn females can become sterile if overfed and this is irriversable. I learned this the hard way with a snow female I had years ago,...

Although I love my Kenyan sand boas, I do miss having a colubrid or two in the collection. Since my first Cornsnake way back in 2004 I have always wante...

Re: New Kenyan Sand Boa Issues

For me normal children's play sand works great and in my experience the prefer belly heat to heat from above. I have two Exo-terra snake caves, the ones with solid bottoms. During shed cycles I just keep the sand in one of the two moist and they shed beautifully.
