Re: Help applying for EA Gaboon permit

Yes, in North West it's ok to keep exotic snakes, just like Gauteng. I already have two b. rhinoceros, but two b. gabonica would have been great for my collection.

I'm still searching for b. gabonica on permit, but they are hard to find.

I'm definitely not going to report the guy that's for sure, because he is taking good care of them after all. I'm just sad that I couldn't buy them without breaking the law.

Re: Help applying for EA Gaboon permit

Just for interest sakes, did you see the animals and confirm that they are Bitis gabonica? Also what price range was he looking at for them? (You may pm me rather if you wish). Yes I saw them. When I spoke to him on the phone I asked whether they were WA or EA Gaboons and he his reply was WA. Upon ...

Re: Snake Room

Those are some really nice enclosures.

I thought I saw similar looking enclosures at the Reptile Expo in Randburg a couple of weeks ago?

Re: Help applying for EA Gaboon permit

Oh well, guess I'll let this deal pass and look for a legitimate dealer.

If someone knows about a person selling legal East African Gaboons (B. gabonica), please send me a private message with his/her contact details.

Re: What happens if I'm bitten again?

Jacques I am sorry to disappoint you but if you were only given two ampoules then you never required the antivenom to start with. Two ampoules will not neutralise enough venom to make much of a difference. I know that you had no influence on the decision but you would have recovered without the ant...

Re: What happens if I'm bitten again?

There are only two decent hospitals in my area and both are 45min away, so when I was bitten my GP called the hospital to inform them that I was on my way and he also gave them my details. When I arrived they were waiting and ready, but only managed to get 4 units of AV in total from other hospitals...

Re: Help applying for EA Gaboon permit

I really do not know why this guy doesn't have a permit, but maybe it's worth a shot trying to apply? If the application is turned down I lost nothing?

Help applying for EA Gaboon permit

Hi guys, I live in the North West province and found someone wanting to sell two female east african Gaboon adders (Bitis Gabonica) to me. Both snakes are captive bred, but the problem is the guys owning them at the moment doesn't have a permit, so I have no way of proving they were not collected fr...

What happens if I'm bitten again?

Hi guys, I've heard some time ago that once you've been treated with anti-venom your chance for an allergic reaction to snakebite serum increases should you have to receive treatment again. I'm aware that it's impossible to know unless you actually receive anti-venom again, but maybe someone can pro...

Re: Natural Branches for Enclosures?

I don't see a problem because some trees are only toxic if you drink the sap or eat the leaves/fruit and I don't think snakes will try and do that. And once the branches dried out its harmless anyway.

Re: Leopard Tortuous eggs

Please I need some urgent help. How long does it take the baby tortuous to come out of the egg once it cracks? I've read they can stay underground up to 3 months if the soil is too dry to dig out. However, that is probably not the case here. Are you sure the egg(s) cracked because they are hatching...
