Re: Heating Cable!

Didn't know it still gets that cold in SA! :) I'm struggling to get my temps below 33 during the day. Recently moved all my animals into the garage to be able to keep the temps more stable. Changed all 40w globes to 12watt energy savers and all heating pads are swithed off! You will need to get the ...

Re: new boa possible het salmon

Hi Bush baby, no not a reputable breeder, bought from someone who needed space, he took the male from someone and there was a couple of albino babies in the clutch. So there is a possibility but I'm not placing many hope in it! ;) I think there is a better chance of some hidden gene in the new lady!...

Re: new boa possible het salmon

Thanks Westley, I thought it sounded strange! Still a bit inexperienced in breeding morphs, and saving up to buy the book designer morphs. I went on advise from Arno that he gave on a course that if you buy a het you don't pay more than for a normal or for the visual morph. So I picked this girl up ...

Re: new boa possible het salmon

And before any one says she looks like she is in the blue, this was taken about two weeks after her last shed. So she is not in the blue. :)

new boa possible het salmon

I picked this girl up a couple weeks ago, and after she settled completely I took her out for some photo's. She is around 19months old now, and measuring at 1.4m. I was told that she is het for Salmon, but even if for a normal I didn't pay too much. She has very interesting coloration which doesn't ...

Re: 2012 BABIES

My RTB's was paired up fairly late this season, the female is gravid and HUGE, I'm expecting her too drop anytime from the 20th November. There's no exact science and calculations but this will be more or less in line with her sheds. The reason I kept them behind and paired up later was pure nature,...

Re: 4 unit rack build

If you have the wood cut at builders or wherever, ask them to add the edging for you. Its cheap and doesn't make much difference in the price. If you want you can also opt for 2 or 3mm edging which is more durable and looks even better than the iron on type. The racks looks awesome man. Are those 11...

Re: Tail Trauma

http://www.sareptiles.co.za/gallery/albums/userpics/19808/_MG_8380.jpg Here is the picture of the tail, it looks normal on the photo, I'll try and take photos of another angle over the weekend. But I must say after second look it also doesn't look that bad. They were still warm around 34C in the ba...

Re: Hi! I'm new!

Weaners should be fine they about the size of a medium mouse. Normally calcium powder wouldn't be nessacerry, but in this case it will make a huge difference as the snake did not get all the nutrients while growing up. Although snakes can absorb the calcium from the bones of their prey without UV li...

Re: Hi! I'm new!

After reading your post I honestly can say that you are quite mature for 16. I'm glad you changed your act, and glad you figured it out. The snakes growth was stunted due to the feeding routine and will never get as big as what it wuld have. I have yearlings that is bigger than your snake. I would a...

Re: Tail Trauma

Luckily its not that bad, will post pictures tonight. I was told by someone else that it will cause the tail to get septic and then the iguana will die. This didn't make any sense to me as it is unlikely for it to get septic if it is not an open wound. Thus me asking for more advise first before jus...

Tail Trauma

Hi Guys I have a question, could not find the answer. I am new to Iguana keeping and have read in just about every caresheet not to handle them by the tails as to prevent tail trauma. I had the unfortunate event where one of our dogs managed to get into my reptile room (Don't ask me how, I don't kno...

Re: Yellow Anaconda Care?

I almost bought a couple at this years expo, they were going for R200 each. My wife talked me out of it. I love the big buky snakes although I'm sure my wife would prefer me to stick to rat snakes and corn snakes. Unlike you I do care about the bite :) they can give a really nasty bite especially wh...

Re: Advice Please

You cannot go wrong with RTB's, I have a few in my collection and took ownership of stunning female a week or so ago. They are very docile and tame easy with handling, Which I will reccomend, you don't want an aggresive 3m snake that wants to take a bite every time you open the cage. When I got my f...
