I used to hate spiders untill one day when I foolishly tried to kill a big rain spider with Doom. Obviously Doom is supposed to be used on smaller insects so it took some time for the spider, completely white from the Doom it was covered in, to die. I felt so bad and stupid afterwards for being such...

After you install the app the database (48mb) is downloaded to your phone to a location of your choice or default location (sd card). The app works offline, never needs a connection after initial download except for updates.

I just installed an app for Android (Also available for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch) called eSnakes of South Africa. It may be a little pricy but worth it I think for noobs like me wanting information and for identifying snakes. It's got some cool features. Very handy out in the bush! Here's a link ...

Very nice!

My friend also got bitten on the finger by this "Sypikslang" here in Northen KZN. He was in a lot of pain and luckily didn't lose his finger...just left with a lekke scar.

I'm in northern kzn, southern border of swaziland. I live in a small town but close to the bush. It's got a fair amount of roads to cross though.. walking out without being snatched might no be so easy. Most of the locals kill anything resembling a reptile on sight. it came walking into the house as i was watching the rugby. i took it outside again and it's now buried itself deep underneath leaves and twigs and stuff.. only the top of its shell sticking out :-? :?:
