Summer is here!

This is for anything with regards to reptiles which is not species specific or over a broad band of reptiles. Be it husbandry, caging, etc. you can post it here.

Oh! and secondly, I would like to contact them at Sarca and confirm with them that my format is useable, aside from offering assistance for the census.

Last night, we get a call out, and I volunteered to go. This guy said he doesn't want to kill it cause he is sure it's an exotic. So I race out to the other side of town, and get to the house where the snake was.

Get out of my car, and the guy explains it's behind a cupboard, and as we entered the house he pointed out which cupboard. His wife greeted me, and she was sitting on the dinning room table with her feet up high. I couldn't help but giggle at that.

The guy explained it was a browish colour, with silver and it's about 1.5 meters long. Looked behind the cupboard, and there's nothing. Looked inside... nothing. Packed everything off the cupboard, moved the cupboard forward and looked underneath it, and there's this very exotic Brown House snake. LOL

The guy was so releived but didn't want to even go near the snake. He was a very nice guy. He called the police, and they came out, and said they're going to shoot the snake when it comes out, and he chased them away.

Next time you have suspected burglars, just tell the police there's some snakes behind the wall, maybe then they will respond to the call and shoot them for a change.

Uhm, this is a subject most would rather not talk about. Having exotics escape is negligence. That is what Nat Con is hoping for, so that they can put laws against keeping exotics. Even though the chances are VERY slim that they would be able to be invasive, they still don't want us to keep them.

If I did catch an exotic I would not admit to it or else the complainant might want to be compensated. Either that or the real owner suddenly wants his snake back.

Thats why you will never hear about it if I caught one. I am not saying that I ever have either.

If you get an exotic and the owner requests compensation for the animal ask for a call-out fee and your petrol to be compensated.
That usually balances everything out and every one walks away happy.

BB for President!!

... or atleast that's how a particular releaved gentleman felt yesterday evening.

Went on a call out to Pta North, and caught a 1.2 - 1.4 meter single banded Snouted Cobra  The guy was so impressed that a woman had come on the call, and managed to catch it in no time at all. Luckily the snake was quite placid, so it was not too difficult.

It's when we get people like that who make it worth while. I did not get a donation for petrol, or anything, but he was so friendly, and didn't say anything bad about the snake, and actually phoned afterwards to say thanks again.

Congratulations BB. Yes there are some good people on earth left. But you don’t see them every day.
