Hey, does anyone have a list of geckos you may keep in the Western Cape, or is there no such thing? Thanks.

Giant ground geckos, crested geckos, gargoyle geckos and I think most of the day geckos.

Leighroomes try contacting the conservation body in your area and hear what they have to say. They should be in the phone book under Cape Nature. Possibly one of the people from the Cape can give you a contact number or else you could always write them a letter/email and request this info.

If you do not hear from them within a reasonable time explain you are going to go get some lizards in Gauteng and seeing as you have had no response you are assuming that they have no objection to iguanas and bearded dragons being brought back. They should respond rather rapidly after that.
It is easier to ask for forgiveness than permission.

Those who are afraid to ask are ashamed of learning.

I have had permits for Madagascan Ground geckos (Paroedura pictus) geckos and Cat geckos (Aeluroscalabotes felinus) but the deals never materialised.

All Phelsuma except maybe Dubia which is from Africa.
All Rhacodactylus
Maybe all Uroplatus (working on it).

If it's tropical and requires high humidity levels it may be allowed.

Also a few chameleons sepcies are allowed but don't want to give them all out as they may not be allowed. I know Veilds are allowed.

All the species I have quoted as allowed are to my knowladge but I could be wrong with some. Please contact Cape nature for clearance.

Also talk to Nico or some one at Panorama petshop. They'll be able to help. Nico knows alot about what you can keep. If you need the number its 021 930 2609.
