Feed smaller prey items about half the size of the spider, once a week & you don't have to worry about uneaten food left in the burrow. Although they will sometimes kill a prey item and if not hungry will spin a web around it for later/ another day. I'm sure you don't want to leave it there though, hopefully they do this ground level/ out of the burrow.

Morning. Thanks again for the info, I shall do so. Do you know anything about the gel "water balls" ? Somewhere I read that it should be avoided for some reason.

Yes stay away from them. If your tarantula is still under 4cm, spraying the enclosure will be sufficient. You can use a little cap from a cooldrink bottle for water if it is larger than 5cm.
