hy uwe.

nice to see that your P.planicauda became a brood :)
but it is not good that the scorplings are not on the back of the female... this problem is not new in this species.

do not stress the female. maybe the scoprlings climb back to the female. i hope it for you.

I think they are from yesterday so maybe they are still climbing on. Look at the middle of the pic there seems to be a infertile egg.

Very nice Uwe! How many have you counted? Hopefully they all get back onboard.

infertile eggs is not new by Parabuthus spp.
the problem that the scorplings are not on the back of the female is also by Parabuthus liosoma.

i hope that all will be okay with your brood :)

Alex, I have also had this problem once with a P.transvaalicus female. I tried my best, but they all died unfortunately. What do you think causes this? I have strong suspicion that it may be moisture or heat stress related? The only thing I did different with that female was I gave much more water to the substrate than usual (per accident). Everything was damp. Now, with new broods, I only make sure the burrow stays a little damp inside, and the rest of the enclosure mostly dry (except for a small water dish). Never had this problem since with P.transvaalicus.

it_bit_me: The caking around the tail is also usually not a good sign. May indicate either wrong substrate for captive conditions, or too wet at times. Also remove the roaches for now. They wont feed anyways until after they molt.

hy @ all.

jason this problem what you and uwe had is not new by Parabuthus spp.
a big problem is the streß by this species, maybe the biggest problem... They need a little damp cave, that is right. and not to hot, 32 degrees is okay.
not every brood is like the other, there are many factors...
dont look every day in the box by the female, when they have a correclty birth, they bring the scorplings outside to you ;)

Wow! Very well done Alex! Nice big broods from all your females it seems? The infuscatus and carinatus are by far my favourites. Good luck with the raising up of the babies.
