Also... if the 2&3rd pics are Uroplectus, are they legal to keep? I know the Opisthophthalmus glabrifrons is TOPS and not legal to keep.

Come on people. Help this guy out. I am no expect but I think the one in picture 2 might be from the BUTHIDAE BUTHOTUS Family but my info is quite a few years old. Does the one in Pic number 2 have 3 black lines running down it's carapace? And what is it's length. Number one however looks like it's from the Scorpionidae Family.

Hey. The Characteristics seem to indicate a member of the BUTHIDAE BUTHOTUS. I doesnt look like a Parabuthus as they are completley Black or Yellow Brown and I don't think it's a Uroplectes as they are Brightly Coloured and are smaller and much more slender. The pictures seem to point to BUTHOTUS but I am no expert so don't hold me to this but I am 75% sure it is a BUTHIDAE BUTHOTUS Species of some sort.

I’m really bad with scorpions but it looks similar to the ones I usually discover in my shoes!

Sorry I have no idea what they are called.

Got them from someone who didn't want them anymore after they got stung by the Burrowing Scorpion. I released the Burrowing Scorpions, and kept the one with the babies as the are surely a thick-tailed species, making them legal to keep. This is why I'm so keen on getting info on them as there isn't much info around.

I have removed the babies (last two pictures) and placed each one in a seperate container with some moist peat and a little piece of bark. They took their first meal on their own today, very small pinheads.

There isn't much info on the web about Buthotus, probably due to taxonomic changes... but I'll dig a little deeper, thanks!

Buthotus is now Hottentotta... Don't think it's that though. Someone else said it might be Uroplectes planimanus or Uroplectes carinatus, which sorta fits the bill, but my knowledge is too limited.

Okay then. Well I said the info was a bit outdated. I also thought a Uroplectes of some sort.

Thank you for the replies, F1refly, Nineve, atleast someones trying to help!

I'm not much closer to solving it, but I'm going to go with Uroplectes. Which exact one I'm not sure though.

hello @ all.

picture 2 and 3 is a Uroplectes cf. carinatus.
i dont think that it is an Uroplectes planimanus, becaus they are more colored on carpax and telson.

I'm also not 100% sure its planimanus, because of the distribution. Thanx for the input.
