My First Scorpion

So after doing some reading and research I decided I would take the jump into getting a scorpion.

I bought an young Emperor Scorpion. It is currently about 4-5 cm including the tail.

Just a few questions.

Is there a sub species that has red/ brown pincers? The one i got is the usual dark colour but as the question states has red/ brown pincers.

I read on some forums and sites that I should feed every day till its older and then every other day once its an adult is this correct or over kill? Also how much should i feed? I am currently giving 1 cricket daily?

It is currently in a 20x20x20 cm glass tank is this sufficient?

There is a sub species of Pandinus that has a red tinge to it. This species is much more aggressive than the true Emperor Scorpion. With the true emperor scorpion being listed on CITES alot of sub species have made it to SA and are being sold off as true Emperor Scorpions.

Scorpions are probably the easiest creatures to keep. Throw in a few crickets once a week and spray once a week with water and your scorpion will be happy.

You can tell if your scorpion is fat by the pleura bulging on its side.

Scorpionsn are very hardy. If you go a few weeks without feeding, that isn't a train smash either.

Thanks for the info! I have decided to add more substrate to its enclosure and instead of a small snake like hide I am going to get some flat wood as a hide so he can burrow under it.

Do you perhaps know the sub species scientific name?

the species with the red pedipalpen you search is Pandinus cavimanus .
but it is no subspecies, it's an own species.

like "scorpion" say, feed them once in a week and also giving water. this is enough.
you can give substrate over 10 cm...
to decide if its a male or female is better when your scorpion is adult. Pandinus spp. are adult when there telson color is braun/red, and not yellow like on your picture .
