Beetle IDs Please

Beetle IDs Please

Postby Westley Price » Fri May 16, 2014 10:05 am

While scratching around my garden, I came across these two little beautiful beetles (look like small chafers). I have seen them smaller type before, but this is the first time I have seen the larger one.

Any ideas on ID would be greatly appreciated. Beautiful little critters.

They were buried in my compost patch. I wonder if they spend their time buried in organic matter, why the bright colours?

The yellow one looks like a Pachnoda sinuata (Garden fruit chafer) I always used to find them on my Grandmother's roses.

Thanx a bunch for the responses all.

HH, I am still very into my herps, but sticking to field herping instead of keeping.
