Afroc with kill in Kruger

Afroc with kill in Kruger

Hi All :-D

I was gong through some old snaps of my Kruger trips and came across some pics I took of an Afroc Constricting and swallowing a baby impala.

It was on one of the short loops roads on the Skukuza/Lower Sabi Road. We came across a white citi golf and he pointed to the bush. There was an impala standing there, making a calling sound, when we scanned the area just behind the impala we spotted movement on the ground and then realised it was a python in the constricting process.

It was at quite a distance so pics are not that great. Anyways, we watched this python swallow the impala and then move off. A very rare siting indeed, we spoke to some rangers later that day and they said that they had never witnessed an afroc with a kill, so we were chuffed.

These pics were taken in Nov 2006, my dad and I reckon that the afroc must have been 4m+

Amazing. Now that is something you don't see everyday. Thanks for posting.

Nice! It barely even made a lump!

Very nice. Hope to see something like that on the 17th - 25th when we in that area. Doubt it though as this could be one of a kind experiance.
