Python with kill

Postby Phunk » Fri Jul 16, 2010 5:20 pm

Good day all.

I received these photos in an e-mail today.
The sender said they were taken on a farm in Stanger.
The Python looks in very good condition.

Enjoy

Awesome pictures, nice to see a large snake like that outside a protected area.

If I am not mistaken that antelope is a female Nyala( Tragelaphus angasii). They are not small either, so this Python must of be a very large and old individual which is fantastic and quiet rare these days!
It warms ones heart to know that some large Pythons are still out there!

Now that is proper "road kill". Okay dirt road kill.

I have an idea the snake left the antelope. Just the way he was looking at the camera makes me think he was too disturbed to continue. The rest would have been amazing photos if he had consumed the antelope.
