My guess is not a single person will be charged with having committed an offense. Same old story but try to save it or keep it alive then you are the devil incarnate.
It is easier to ask for forgiveness than permission.

Those who are afraid to ask are ashamed of learning.

So sad. I can understand someone being scared of a venomous snake in the wild and killing it to protect someone, that is just ignorance but I can't understand killing something so obviously not a threat. There are very vew few (if any, I can't remember a documented report actually) of anyone being killed by a python in Natal ...

I will restrain myself from commenting. This sort of thing as well as the public comments after the article make my blood boil!!!

When will people learn a snake can't harm you unless you harm it, and that's just what they did!
All the poor thing wanted was a meal and they can't just spare one chicken which is like, how much 20-50 rand?

Well one the bright side she is recovering really well which is fantastic :) !!!

I hope she has a nice life after what those people did to her.

Peoples ignorance around snakes still amaze me... I hate how they kill snakes for no reason, even on farms there is no reason to kill them as we are actually in their environment.

Guess we cant change what they did, but can try to educate them.

I caught a rinkhals at work yesterday, and released it again.
A colleague of mine that also used to keep snakes(kings, corns, housies etc.) first reaction was:
"Why didn't you kill it?!!!!!!!"
That knocked me for a six, I must admit.
i'm not a complete idiot, some parts are still missing!!

So sad...
I've tried educating my neighbour, it didn't help... SO I appealed to his simple human nature and love of money! I told him that he should never kill a snake because it might be a different morph or have a strange marking and could be worth some decent money. I now get a call every so often to say there is a snake in his yard and I must come take a look... I get there and "check" for anything different, and upon finding nothing special relocate the snake and wish him better luck next time. hahaha... Human ignorance is one thing, but human greed is so much easier to appeal to... ;)
Be the change you want to see in the world...
