Hi everyone I found a site selling both of these, as far as my knowledge goes it is the same thing but now I found myself pondering!?
are they the same or not?

No they're not the same.

Do a google search and compare the images and size info etc.

No, they are not the same and also, the Dumerils Boa is Acrantophis dumerili, not Boa dumerili.

...that means that some petshops are selling them under the incorrect name, I have found a couple being sold as dumeril's and Madagascan ground boas.

this can cause some upset, are both available here in SA, cause this site says that Madagascar ground boas are very rare...

Like Mitton said your scientific names were wrong. But regardless, the parts that were right proved they were different species in any case. Who told you they were the same thing?

those are the name that I copied from the site, as is, a lot of petshops has said that, hence the reason me being so confused and opening this topic.

They are different species but have been known to hybridise in captivity so be careful of this, you don't want to end up with a bastard on your hands.
A. dumerili occur in the drier southern regions of Madagascar while A. madagascariensis prefers jungle habitat from central to further north.

I cannot remember the numbers but A. dumerili have larger clutches than it's counterpart which can very easily only produce one baby in a season. A. madagascariensis babies are the largest when born of any other boa, or snake for that matter. Around 230 grams for a baby is par for the course.

So how would you know your specimen is the real deal between the dumeril and the M. ground boa?
and if it is a bastard as froot called it?

Google some photos, you'll soon see the difference.

That site does not even look like a reptile website and that info is wrong. Don't believe everything you read on the internet.

No its not, its a list of endangered species around the planet...
What I'm saying here how can so many misconception be going around?

what I am trying to say is that it is very commonly mistaken, the 2 species...
