Sanzinia madagascariensis - mandarin phase.

Sanzinia madagascariensis - mandarin phase.

This girl is my pride and joy, placid as a big old teddy bear. This may be a shot in the dark but I'm looking for a mandarin male if anyone has available or is keen on a breeding deal.

She is stunning Froot!!!

I don't know of any around here. Last time i saw was at Monte casino a few years back. If they still have, maybe you could talk to them.

Wow thanks for sharing Froot! She's beautiful! Sanzinia, mandarin or otherwise, been on my wishlist for a while. Didn't know they were even available in SAfrica. Love the snakies from Madagascar. Didn't even know you got different phases of sanzinia so your post was educational for me. If you do find a male with which to breed her I'd really be interested in a couple of babies :smt007

Thanks for the cmments.

Boadicea they are not available an SA as far as I'm aware of. Never seen any babies for sale in the last few years. There are 2 phases, normal and mandarin phase, and each are from a different locality. Both phases fall under one species which I think should be reviewed. This means that I technically won't be cross breeding if I mate her with a normal male, but it just doesn't feel right to do this. I do have a pair of normals which I'll take pics and post soon. If I google for pics of mandarins none of them have the same tone as this one, they all are darker or have some green in them. I did have a male which looked exactly the same but rolled on me earlier this year, was a very sore day for me. He just stopped eating and nothing I did helped. What made it 10 times worse was that I just cannot find a replacement for him. I feel almost as if it's my duty to breed these animals, they are just too dam rare not to.

Mat can you say CITES appendix 1? The paperwork will be approved long after the snake has died of old age.
