Nice surprise at the park!

Nice surprise at the park!

Postby Bjorn » Thu Feb 03, 2011 3:56 pm

Nivea and myself got a nice surprise the one morning while doing a walk through. Our female boa had 10 babies, 1 still born and 50 slugs!! :smt022
What was a BONUS is that we got out 4 Anery boas from the pairing of two normals?? So they both obviously carry the gene. The normal looking ones would be possible hets.

Comparison.

They are now feeding and the mother has also been eating.

If anyone has any thoughts on the genetics please let me know. It can get confusing but hoping I am right.

Thanks! I have just kept one back and will try get pics soon. The female is gravid again so hopefully I will be looking at 40-61 babies this time and not so many slugs. We will see what happens. Not sure which male got to her but might be looking at a few more anery babies. I wanted to breed my poss super salmon to her as that would have been an amazing pairing but space and quarantine requirements prevented it.

Funny when I had them no one was buying. lol I just have this one girl I am keeping. I tend to keep one snake from every first time species breeding I do.

Here is mom gravid again. This picture doesn't show how big she really is. Her skin is streched like mad so I am hoping more babies than slugs this time.
