At one stage they were plentiful and then they disappeared off the map. The babies do well on geckos and then switch to mice.

I think Froot still has a trio or a pair of these left from way back.

Hope yours do well for you.

Thanks Arno...You are spot-on regarding the geckos. Getting these babies interested in pink parts is another ballgame tho... :D

Very nice Louis, those guys are tiny! I can imagine getting them on to pinks would be a battle.

Those are beautiful. Do you have a pair?

Thanks Wade !

I'd rather not say to be honest but they were not too expensive. Pricing and everything aside, they are some of the coolest boas I've ever worked with ! I'll post you guys some more pics later today so you can see how diverse the patterning on these guys are.

Always been interested in these and Candoia in general. Quick question though...aren't these, in fact, Pacific (Solomon)Tree boas (C.carinata carinata). The Ground boas used to be C.carinata paulsoni, if I'm not mistaken. Where these bred locally or imported? Unfortunately not terribly popular due to their size and reluctance to take pinks initially, but facinating none the less. Anyone doing C.aspera?

Haha...Thanks T ! I did it just for you !

@Blet, They are indeed C.c.carinata, I only learned their common names a couple of weeks ago to be honest with you. I used to refer to all of the species in the genus as viper boas to be honest haha...I have no idea whether they were imported/smuggled/bred locally. They were offered to me by a friend and I grabbed the opportunity to work with them as I've been after them for a long time now.

I do not know of anyone that's working with C.aspera but I'm sure someone will have some.

Thanks Bret !

Adults should even out at around 90cm-1.2m (Females are usually larger).

Here are some pics to show some of the different patterns on them...
