After many years of wanting to keep this species, I finally broke down and purchased a pair at the recent Durban Expo.

They are breedable adults.

The male is an Anery.



The female is a very large Normal and there is some speculation that she may be gravid, perhaps someone who has kept and bred this species can look at the pic, and give me an opinion.

Congrat..their great snakes. I do have my suspicion that the male is not anery but a normal??

The anery kenyans ive kept and bred were a deep black with crisp white?

Would like more comments on this matter.

One of my aneries also looks like that, more brownish than black.

Definitely an Anery.

Congrats on the new additions Roland. KSBs have always been a favourite of mine due to their manageable size and easy of husbandry.

As for her being gravid, I would not put money on it, but she does look heavy on the "hips" so that is a good sign. Fingers crossed.

I am not betting on it, I mean, who sells a Gravid animal at an Expo.
It would be very welcome though.
My understanding is that if gravid, she should give birth in February sometime, if not, well there is next season, and I do have a pair.
The Anery definitely has spurs.
