Feeding random tadpoles?

Postby Bernice » Sun Sep 20, 2015 11:52 pm

Greetings!

A bit of insight from the amphibian keepers please? As Im a biology teacher... (dont ask me what I was thinking, I dont know myself...) I was thinking it would be nice to raise some tadpoles in my class... now my local garden center has a bunch of random little tadpoles in their lily pond that I can help myself too, but I dont know what to feed them! :smt017

I assume they are algae eating tadpoles, but can they be fed on something like fish flakes? or plecostomus algae wafers? or must I culture an algae covered rock for them?

A little insight please?

Yup, fish flakes will be just fine, I've raised hundreds of tadpoles on them.

Sure, if you can get hold of any dragonfly nymphs, it's pretty cool to see them 'harpoon' and eat the tadpoles.
