Please ID dead snake

Please ID dead snake

Postby Phunk » Tue Dec 08, 2009 8:19 pm

Good day all

When I drove back to the office this afternoon I was stopped at the gate by security because they had killed a snake and they wanted to show it to me.
I was deeply angered that they had killed this beautiful snake and I let them know just how angry I was.
They told me it was "Attacking" them and it wouldn't go away when they tried to chase it. They said it was trying to kill them and they had to kill it for for fear of their lives.
Absolute tripe as far as I'm concerned.

Please could you guys ID this Cobra.
Thanks.

Sorry about the poor quality of the pics.

Phunk these snakes in particular do put up quite a display so its almost acceptable why they would be afraid
in zulu this snake is called "Mfezi" which many Zulu people do fear and i suppose with reason.

Mfezi for sure and quite a big one too.
And God has Created every animal from water, of them are some creeping on their bellies, some walk on two legs, and some on four. God Creates what He wills, for sure God has Power over all things. (Noble Quran 24:45)

What a beautiful Moz Spitting Cobra!

We have two of them here at the Park ... and they have such characters!

We were fortunate enough to see a Mfezi actively hunting down prey on a walking trail during our visit to Mtunzini this year ... was awesome to watch!
