what snake is this

what snake is this

Hey. I live in bredasdorp in the overberg region and found this snake in our garden. It was around 11am in the morning and it was lying in the sun. I picked it up using a stick to move it away from our dogs just incase it was poisones. Its about 40cm long and brown with a grey type belly.

That's a Common Slug Eater, Duberria lutrix.
They are harmless.

Yes indeed, Duberria lutrix lutrix.
2:2 Pseudaspis cana
1:2 Dasypeltis scabra

And yes they are all on permit.

Great to have in your garden, the bite is non venomous and the snake does not have any form of poison.

Always see them in Betty's Bay in the road or my folks garden hehe
