Is this a Rhombic Skaapsteker? This little soul scared the cr@p out of me this morning, sunning itself in my driveway and blending in so beautifully with the stones that I did not see it until it moved to get away. I think I might have scared it too. I was wondering if it was the same little Steker that about two weeks ago while I was working on my irrigation in the garden came and almost stuck its head down the solenoid box where I was working next to mine. Scared me then too but seemed unworried about me, in fact seemed about as curious as the two wagtails that were picking the worms out of the sand heap I had created. Do they have a territory, I guess I am asking if they stay in the same area for food or do they roam widely? It was around noon on a cloudy but humid early summer day in the southernmost town. It did scare me for its relaxed calm and curious seeming attitude and the puff adder encounters are all to common compared to a Skaapsteker.
