Postby MrG » Tue Jan 08, 2008 2:26 pm

Got this call-out of a black snake accross this guys house. Got there the first time and didnt find anything. 2 days later called out again. Listing to the the guy I asume it was a Rinkhals and again could'nt find anything.

Well this morning to my surprise this is what I found.

This beautifull Black Mole Snake. I have not heard of any this colour ever caught in Gauteng.

Really nice like that black, just out of interest are there any people keeping and breeding mole snakes.

Are they good feeders? and what do you give them mice or rats?

Ours eat rats quite easily. The babies are a problem to feed, but they do eventually take mice.

I thought they are rodent feeders from the beginning, what does the babies feed on?

I had a baby once that took crickets before I released him. The adults also love toads.

MrG - Yet again, very nice pics. You should start putting your snakes on natural backgrounds and get serious man, you're very good.

What a beautiful snake.

Nice one Mr G. I have seen a few dark mole snakes DOR in the western TVL. But never in Gauteng.
