Looks like a species from the Psammophis genus(sand, grass or whip snakes). Possibly P. crucifer, the cross marked whip snake, although some of our more experienced members will soon make a positive ID. And yes, it is not considered harmful to man. Mildly venomous, nothing to worry about.

Blet, you reckon brevirostris ? I've never seen one with that coloration.

But that is not crucifer I'm sure. I recall seeing individuals like that but can not remember the species.

There is an unmarked crucifer in Johan Marais book. It also has a red lip.
If I'm gonna be an old, lonely man, I'm gonna need a thing, you know, a hook, like that guy on the subway who eats his own face. So I figure I'll be Crazy Man with a Snake, y'know. Crazy Snake Man. And I'll get more snakes, call them my babies, kids won't walk past my place, they will run. "Run away from Crazy Snake Man, " they'll shout!”

I'm happy to settle on P.crucifer too. Seen some odd brevirostris over the years, though. Tough call on photos.
