Please help identify

Postby Digiman » Sun Oct 28, 2012 1:26 pm

I believe it is a red lipped herald, but not sure as it does crown when moving to strike. ( this might be a herald norm, but I am a newbie and don't know any better). It is approx 50cm long. It did regurgate a lizard looking meal.

Thanks in advance

It looks like a red lip, black brow and slight red lid below.
What location was this?

That is a Herald - Crotaphopeltis hotamboeia. The name Red-lipped Herald is kinda misleading as their lips aren't always red.

Also, that defensive behaviour or flattening their heads is a dead giveaway.
