It's an copperhead ,in SA we put them in cages.
If I'm gonna be an old, lonely man, I'm gonna need a thing, you know, a hook, like that guy on the subway who eats his own face. So I figure I'll be Crazy Man with a Snake, y'know. Crazy Snake Man. And I'll get more snakes, call them my babies, kids won't walk past my place, they will run. "Run away from Crazy Snake Man, " they'll shout!”

Well which area do you live in?

This is a highly venomous exotic species, so if you are tagged there is nothing a hospital can do for you. Maybe one of the responsible guys on the forum can help remove your problem.

Maybe it's the Copperhead we saw in the ridiculous ad... (The one eating the rat in the box) (joke)

If you keep venomous snakes you should have locks on all your tanks, there should be no way for it to get out.
I understand that mistakes happen but one bad incident puts the whole hobby into disrepute.
What happened to the snake?

Thanks for the responses.

This was a friend of a friend that wanted an ID. I've passed along the message of what it is and to try knocking on the neighbours' doors to see if they can find the irresponsible owner, failing that to call someone to come fetch. As for the area, I believe it was Olivedale.

I'm close to Olivedale if it needs to be removed.

That's crazy. When I opened up the thread, I was expecting it to be a Night Adder, Herald, Rinkhals or Puff Adder at the most, haha. Good on you for not killing it or releasing it (which I hope you didn't). :-)

Sadly because of the broken telephone it's likely that the bugger is still wandering around in someone's garden.
I've passed along the numbers and info and can only hope that they act on it :Z

I was also expecting a usual house-visiting snake.

Wow, this is getting ridiculous. Guys, PLEASE PUT LOCKS ON THE CAGES OR TUBS OF YOUR VENOMOUS SPECIES
