My guess is it is one of the grass snakes. Nil marking on body or lower jaw

Hmm, might be the plain phase of Psammophis crucifer, Cross-marked Grass/Sand Snake.

So you are definitely correct on the genus, but I am not 100% sure of my species ID.

I'm virtually never sure about a species ID with this genus.
The way to success has no shortcuts.

I have just confirmed with Johan Marais that it is indeed Psammophis mossambicus - Olive Grass snake
